They’re not all asshats.

I know I complain about how many jags we have at work, but they aren’t all bad.  Some are decent, some are even very good people – even some of the attorneys. ;)

For instance, awhile back, I found out about someone who potentially could have been (and was) a fairly important witness in a case.  I wasn’t working on the case anymore but knew about it and still worked on other things peripherally for this attorney, and I told him about the person.  Last week, the attorney got a pretty good settlement in the case.  He took his new assistant/paralegal and his previous paralegal out to lunch today to celebrate and thank them for their work on the case – and he asked me to join them and thanked me for my help as well.  Its not often that an attorney thanks his/her staff for something, and even less often that they even remember a staff member helped them several months ago.  Most attorneys I know don’t even see the staff, we’re like furniture.

I knew he was good people, but today sealed that opinion firmly in my head.  Its no surprise that he and my main attorney, who is also very good people, are practically joined at the hip.  I think they’ve known each other almost since birth.  Two definite non-asshat attorneys.

  1. Now if only the rest of them could figure out that a little appreciation goes a long way in terms of motivation and dedication. Glad you got the recognition you deserved!
